What a strong RFQ looks like versus a weak one
A strong RFQ reads like: "40 office chairs, ergonomic, adjustable height, delivered to our Kampala head office by [date], budget-approved, no specific brand requirement." It has a quantity, a specification boundary, a destination and a real deadline — everything needed to source and quote without a back-and-forth. A weak RFQ reads like: "We need office furniture, please send prices." It isn't wrong to start there, but expect a clarification email before a quotation can be issued, since "office furniture" could mean five very different sourcing routes at five very different price points.

What happens after you submit
Every RFQ is reviewed for completeness against the checklist above before sourcing begins. Where something essential is missing — a quantity, a delivery deadline, a required certificate — we come back with a specific clarification question rather than guessing or delaying silently. Quotation timing then depends on how many suppliers need to be compared and whether the item requires technical verification; a routine, well-specified requirement moves faster than a technical or multi-category one, and we will tell you which kind yours is once we've reviewed it.
